Aragon was an absolute star at his first proper event away from home. He was a little nervous of all the other horses warming up for the dressage but was an angel in the ring to be fith out of a large, competitive class. One show jump down (my fault!) kept him in contention and he stormed round the cross country taking all the direct routes. However a slight hesitation walking in the water unfortunately gave him 20 penalties and without it he would have qualified to the PAVO Young Horse Championships. Frustrating but his great attitude for a 4 year old was great. Sadly he is now sold and off to his new home and a holiday. Hopefully he will be back with me for some training around Christmas.
Jemma at Goring Heath Novice where she had just one show jump down and was fantastic cross country again. Two weeks later she contested her first intermediate class at Gatcombe. A reasonable test spoiled by a couple of exuberant bucks, 2 show jumps down over a tough course and a fantastic clear over a technical track left us very excited for the future. We were held for over 10 minutes just before the influential water jump and yet she still jumped through as boldly as any and founf it all so easy! Aragon came second in the Open Class at Stockland Lovell ODE behaving beautifully with a dressage score of 66.5%, the last show jump down and a good clear round cross country and looking absolutely stunning! Video of dressage at http://s206.photobucket.com/albums/bb263/Izzy2311/Aragon/

Now a month old Millie is enjoying the sunshine with her Mum and myself. Her dark muzzle gives away that she is going to be a dark bay when her baby coat grows out
July 2007
Aragon contesting his first PAVO 4 year old qualifier in Monsoon conditions. A respectable, but slightly inattentive dressage ( he couldn't quite understand
why we were sloshing around a muddy arena when it would be much more fun to chat to all the other horses) was followed by a fabulous clear show jumping round where he was full of confidence and giving the jumps feet to spare. Cross country was equally impressive. he has a wonderful rhythm in the canter and jumps very easily out of his stride completely unfazed by the very wet and slippery conditions. Unfortunately a huge puddle on one of the steps up just caused a small hesitation resulting in 20 penalties on an otherwise perfect round. This horse definitley has a big future eventing or show jumping.
Jemma has now completed 2 novices double clear gaining 2 BE points finishing 10th at Stonar and 11th at Stockland Lovell where very slippery conditions meant we took it slowly . Her dressage is becoming much more consistent although she can still show a bit of tension which is just stopping her getting the top marks she is capable of with her beautiful paces. The showjumping is also much better over the bigger fences and some experimentation with different techniques has paid off. She is becoming bolder cross country as her confidence grows although she is still controllable in a snaffle and is showing real potential to go atleast intermediate and hopefully advanced in the future.

At the end of the month my retired advanced event mare, Roodi (Steeler's Texarkana) produced her second foal, another filly by the Mill Law who we have named Millie. Posh name Steeler's M'Lady
June 2007

Jemma at her first Novice Event at West Wilts where a respectable dressage of 37 was followed by 2 unlucky show jumps down and a great cross country round marred by a silly glance of at the second last fence.
Chardonnay eventing season gets off to a flying start storming around his first cross country course at Moreton Intro following with a double clear to finish 8th at West Wilts when he settled better in the dressage arena realising that the white boards don't bite! I lost count of the number of people who stopped to compliment him at both events. He has huge potential in all three phases and takes everything in his stride, but as a young horse will not be pushed this year.

New arrival Chardonnay (stable name Donny) is a stunning Belgium warmblood with a gorgeous temperament and tremendous talent.
Just second time out on the cross country course he showed great enthusiasm and honesty, jumping everything without question
Aragon may only be four but has taken to cross country like a duck to water; he absolutely loves it and wants to jump everything!
April 2007
Rebecca 9 years old and Strawberry (13.1hh) who after a few months
of lessons are now flying around the show jumps ready for their
first
competition at the end of the month

Jemma loves her jumping putting in the enormous energy and enthusaism into it. She will soon be doing her first event.
Aragon is now looking super smart with his summer coat coming through and showing a big bold jump although as he is only rising four we are still taking it slowly
March 2007
New arrival Jemma owned by Sam Mckay has fabulous paces, huge jump and endless energy. She has come for me to compete with the intention
of selling her later this year. She has all the ingredients of a top eventer and I can't wait to get going with her.
New arrival Midney has come for me to event. A tough cookie who has all the talent, but a bit of attitude and gets strong jumping, she is going
to take a little time for me to get her on my side.
Febuary 2007
Ben back from his winter holiday has come back into work very quickly and is so confident and careful jumping. A small sore on the corner of his mouth led to me trying him an a hackamore which he loves and is honest and straight enough to jump a filler on its own with it. On the right he is competing in the eventers show jumping which consisted of 15 fences show jumping and cross country including skinnies, a corner and angled double where he posted a lovely clear round. He really has star quality and I am thrilled that Anita his owner has decided to keep him for me to event this year; I can't wait to get him out on the cross country course!
Aragon at his first dressage competition where he was an angel although desperate to chat to the other horses in the warm up and a little vocal during the test too
January 2007
Aragon having lots of fun as the jumps get a bit higher. Nothing much fazes this chap!
Aragon now looking distinctively more grown up, has his first jumping lesson and really enjoys himself. In just a few weeks he has earned himself the accolade of being the easiest horse I have backed. Next step is to get him shod and start hacking out before preparing for some baby competitions in the spring.
